- Assist the surgical services department by performing various tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and preparing surgical equipment.
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering phone calls, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
- Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery by providing instructions, collecting necessary documents, and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels, before and after surgery.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families before, during, and after surgery.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a seamless experience for patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical services manager or supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent To Be Considered For The Role Of Surgical Services Assistant At Mercy.
Medical Assistant Certification: A Valid Certification As A Medical Assistant Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained And Knowledgeable In Medical Procedures And Terminology.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Surgical Or Operating Room Environment.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Surgical Services Assistant, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients, Doctors, And Other Medical Staff On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures, Including Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Ensuring The Safety Of Patients And The Surgical Team.
