  1. Assist the surgical services department by performing various tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and preparing surgical equipment.
  2. Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  3. Provide excellent customer service by answering phone calls, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for procedures.
  5. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
  6. Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery by providing instructions, collecting necessary documents, and addressing any concerns.
  7. Monitor and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels, before and after surgery.
  8. Provide emotional support to patients and their families before, during, and after surgery.
  9. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  10. Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
  11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a seamless experience for patients.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical services manager or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent To Be Considered For The Role Of Surgical Services Assistant At Mercy.

  • Medical Assistant Certification: A Valid Certification As A Medical Assistant Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained And Knowledgeable In Medical Procedures And Terminology.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Surgical Or Operating Room Environment.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Surgical Services Assistant, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients, Doctors, And Other Medical Staff On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures, Including Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Ensuring The Safety Of Patients And The Surgical Team.
