Job Description

If so, Mercy is seeking a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician to join our team and help us provide top-quality care to our patients. As a non-exempt member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use by our medical staff. We are looking for an individual with a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as certification in sterile processing.   1. Operate and maintain all necessary equipment and instruments used in the sterilization process.
  2. Follow proper sterilization procedures and protocols to ensure the safety and cleanliness of all medical equipment.
  3. Inspect and clean medical instruments and equipment to ensure they are free of contaminants and ready for use.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory of sterile supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be restocked.
  5. Perform regular maintenance and quality control checks on all sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  6. Follow infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and maintain a safe work environment.
  7. Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and available for use.
  8. Keep detailed records of all sterilization processes and maintain accurate documentation.
  9. Attend training and educational sessions to stay updated on the latest sterilization techniques and equipment.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to sterile processing and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Comply with all regulatory standards and guidelines related to sterile processing and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  12. Communicate any issues or concerns regarding sterilization processes or equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  13. Take responsibility for personal and professional development by actively seeking opportunities to improve skills and knowledge related to sterile processing.
  14. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with colleagues and patients, and contribute to a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Certification: Mercy Requires All Sterile Processing Instrument Technicians To Hold A Crcst Certification. This Certification Indicates That The Individual Has Completed A Formal Training Program And Has Demonstrated Competency In The Field Of Sterile Processing.

  • Previous Experience In Sterile Processing: Mercy Prefers Candidates Who Have Previous Experience In Sterile Processing, Either In A Hospital Setting Or A Similar Healthcare Environment. This Ensures That The Technician Has A Basic Understanding Of The Equipment, Processes, And Safety Protocols Involved In The Job.

  • Attention To Detail: The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician (Non-Exempt) Job At Mercy Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail. The Technician Must Be Able To Accurately Clean, Sterilize, And Assemble Instruments And Equipment To Ensure Patient Safety And Prevent Infections.
