  1. Ensure the safety and well-being of patients by properly sterilizing and maintaining surgical instruments.
  2. Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections and diseases.
  3. Maintain a high level of attention to detail when handling and processing surgical instruments.
  4. Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure that all instruments are properly cleaned and ready for use.
  5. Adhere to strict guidelines and procedures for proper instrument sterilization and storage.
  6. Keep accurate records of instrument inventory and maintenance schedules.
  7. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including troubleshooting and reporting any issues.
  8. Assist with the ordering and stocking of necessary supplies for the sterile processing department.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify and implement improvements to the sterile processing system.
  10. Attend training and education sessions to stay updated on new techniques and protocols in sterile processing.
  11. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician: Candidates Should Have A Valid Certification As A Sterile Processing Technician, Preferably From An Accredited Institution Or Organization. This Demonstrates A Thorough Understanding Of Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Procedures.

  • Previous Experience: Mercy May Require Candidates To Have Prior Experience Working In A Sterile Processing Department, Preferably In A Hospital Setting. This Will Ensure That The Candidate Has A Working Knowledge Of Medical Instruments And Equipment, As Well As Familiarity With Industry Standards And Regulations.

  • Attention To Detail: A Sterile Processing Instrument Specialist Must Be Highly Detail-Oriented And Have The Ability To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures. This Is Essential In Order To Ensure That All Instruments Are Properly Sterilized And Ready For Use In Medical Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: Candidates Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And The Different Types Of Medical Instruments Used In Various Procedures. This Will Help Them Accurately Identify And Classify Instruments For Sterilization And Storage.
