Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sr Chargemaster Clinical Specialist to join our dynamic team at Mercy, a leading healthcare organization. As a Sr Chargemaster Clinical Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant charging practices across our organization. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a strong clinical background and extensive knowledge of chargemaster maintenance to join our team.   1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations and coding guidelines related to charge capture and billing processes.
  2. Evaluate and review chargemaster information to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. Collaborate with revenue cycle and clinical teams to identify and resolve charging discrepancies and issues.
  4. Monitor and analyze charging data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  5. Conduct regular audits of chargemaster data to ensure integrity and accuracy.
  6. Provide education and training to clinical and revenue cycle staff on chargemaster processes, documentation requirements, and compliance.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry changes and updates related to chargemaster maintenance and charging practices.
  8. Participate in cross-functional teams and committees to develop and implement process improvements for charge capture and billing.
  9. Communicate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to address any compliance concerns or inquiries.
  10. Serve as a subject matter expert on chargemaster maintenance and compliance, providing guidance and support to other team members and departments.
  11. Maintain documentation of chargemaster changes and updates and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
  12. Participate in special projects and initiatives related to charge capture and billing as needed.
  13. Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to monitor and track chargemaster performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  14. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information.
  15. Act as a resource for colleagues and management on chargemaster-related issues and inquiries.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Chargemaster Management: A Sr Chargemaster Clinical Specialist At Mercy Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Chargemaster Management, Including Coding And Billing Processes, Regulatory Requirements, And Industry Best Practices.

  • Clinical Background: A Clinical Background Is Essential For This Role As It Involves Working Closely With Healthcare Providers To Ensure Accurate Coding And Documentation Of Medical Services. Candidates With Experience As A Nurse, Physician Assistant, Or Other Clinical Roles Will Be Preferred.

  • Certification: A Sr Chargemaster Clinical Specialist Should Hold Relevant Certifications Such As Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs). These Certifications Demonstrate A High Level Of Expertise And Commitment To The Field.

  • Experience With Emr Systems: Mercy Uses Electronic Medical Record (Emr) Systems For Coding And Billing Purposes. Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Emr Systems And A Strong Understanding Of Their Functionalities.

  • Remote Work Experience: As This Is A Remote Position, Candidates Should Have Experience Working In A Virtual Environment And Possess Strong Time Management And Communication Skills. They Should Also Be Comfortable Working Independently And Collaborating With A Remote Team.
