- Review medical records and accurately assign codes to procedures performed in specialty clinics.
- Ensure all codes are in compliance with current coding regulations and guidelines.
- Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify coding discrepancies.
- Stay up-to-date on coding regulations and changes, and implement updates as necessary.
- Work closely with billing and insurance teams to resolve any coding-related issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, answering any questions or concerns related to coding.
- Participate in training and education opportunities to improve coding skills and stay current with industry developments.
- Uphold the mission and values of Mercy by providing compassionate and excellent healthcare to all patients.
Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Credential From The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Credential From The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Coding Experience In A Specialty Clinic Setting, Preferably In An Academic Medical Center.
Proficient In Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Physiology.
Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems And Coding Software, Such As Epic Or 3M 360 Encompass.
