  1. Accurately and efficiently code medical procedures and diagnoses for our specialty clinics.
  2. Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  3. Review medical records and documentation to determine appropriate codes.
  4. Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify coding discrepancies.
  5. Keep up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations.
  6. Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity in coding.
  7. Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure timely and accurate claims submission.
  8. Identify coding trends and provide feedback to improve processes.
  9. Protect the confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Coding Systems And Guidelines: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Coding Systems, Such As Cpt, Icd-10, And Hcpcs, As Well As The Guidelines For Accurate And Ethical Coding Practices.

  • Experience In Specialty Coding: Mercy Is Looking For A Candidate With Experience In Coding For Specialty Clinics, Such As Cardiology, Orthopedics, Or Oncology. This Includes Knowledge Of Specific Coding Requirements And Procedures For These Specialties.

  • Certification In Medical Coding: The Candidate Should Hold A Certification In Medical Coding, Such As Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs), To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Proficiency In Coding.

  • Attention To Detail: Accuracy Is Crucial In Medical Coding, And A Specialty Clinic Coding Specialist At Mercy Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure All Codes Are Entered Correctly And Documentation Is Complete.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Mercy's Specialty Clinics Can Be Fast-Paced And Have A High Volume Of Patients, So The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Work Efficiently And Meet Deadlines While Maintaining Accuracy In Their Coding.
