  1. Conduct comprehensive reviews of patient medical records to ensure accurate and detailed clinical documentation.
  2. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to identify opportunities for improvement in documentation and provide education and training as needed.
  3. Serve as a subject matter expert on coding and documentation standards, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and DRG guidelines.
  4. Stay updated on industry changes and trends related to clinical documentation improvement and coding.
  5. Analyze data and provide regular reports on documentation improvement efforts, including areas of success and areas for improvement.
  6. Act as a resource for coding and billing inquiries and provide guidance on documentation and coding best practices.
  7. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to clinical documentation improvement to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  8. Mentor and train junior CDI specialists and provide guidance and support in their professional development.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and teams to identify and implement process improvements related to clinical documentation and coding.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
  11. Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and coding/billing departments to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services.
  12. Participate in audits and external reviews to ensure compliance with coding and documentation standards.
  13. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability for accurate and complete clinical documentation.
  14. Act as a patient advocate by ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation that reflects the quality of care provided.
  15. Support the organization's mission of providing exceptional healthcare services by promoting accurate and complete clinical documentation.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Clinical Documentation Improvement

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Healthcare Field

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (Ccds) Or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (Cdip) Certification

  • Advanced Knowledge Of Icd-10 Coding And Drg Assignment

  • Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Educate And Train Other Healthcare Professionals On Documentation Best Practices.
