- Assist respiratory therapists in providing quality care to patients.
- Observe and learn from experienced respiratory therapists.
- Participate in patient assessments, treatments, and interventions.
- Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatments.
- Assist in administering respiratory treatments and therapies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.

Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy: A Respiratory Intern At Mercy Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Theoretical Knowledge And Practical Skills To Perform In The Role.
Current State Licensure: The Candidate Should Hold A Current And Valid State License As A Respiratory Therapist. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met All The Requirements Set By The State To Practice As A Respiratory Therapist And Is Legally Eligible To Work In This Role.
Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certification: The Candidate Should Hold A Current Bls And Acls Certification. These Certifications Demonstrate That The Candidate Has The Necessary Skills To Respond To Medical Emergencies And Provide Life-Saving Interventions.
Previous Clinical Experience: Prior Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Respiratory Care Unit, Is Highly Desirable For A Respiratory Intern At Mercy. This Experience Provides The Candidate With A Strong Foundation To Build Upon During Their Internship And Ensures They Can Hit The Ground Running.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Respiratory Intern, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Collaborate And Provide Quality Care To Patients.
