Job Description

  1. Perform vascular access procedures: The Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for performing various vascular access procedures, including but not limited to, IV insertions, PICC line insertions, and central line insertions.
  2. Assess and monitor patients: The Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for assessing and monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
  3. Educate patients and families: The Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for educating patients and their families about the procedures, potential risks, and aftercare instructions.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare team: The Vascular Access Nurse will work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, technicians, and other nurses, to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to patients.
  5. Maintain accurate documentation: The Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including procedure notes, progress notes, and medication administration records.
  6. Adhere to infection control protocols: The Vascular Access Nurse will follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infection to patients and healthcare workers.
  7. Monitor equipment and supplies: The Vascular Access Nurse will ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked to perform procedures safely and efficiently.
  8. Provide emotional support: The Vascular Access Nurse will provide emotional support to patients and their families during procedures, addressing any concerns or anxieties they may have.
  9. Stay abreast of industry developments: The Vascular Access Nurse will stay updated with the latest industry developments and advancements in vascular access procedures to provide the best possible care to patients.
  10. Uphold quality and safety standards: The Vascular Access Nurse will adhere to quality and safety standards set by the facility and regulatory bodies to maintain a safe and effective working environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution: The First Qualification For A Registered Nurse - Vascular Access Job At Mercy Is A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Concepts, Procedures, And Theories, Which Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License: To Be Considered For A Registered Nurse - Vascular Access Position At Mercy, Candidates Must Hold An Active Rn License. This License Is Granted By The State Board Of Nursing And Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All The Necessary Educational And Licensing Requirements To Practice Nursing.

  • Certification In Vascular Access: Mercy May Require Candidates To Hold A Certification In Vascular Access, Such As The Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (Crni) Or Vascular Access Board Certified (Va-Bc) Credential. These Certifications Demonstrate Advanced Knowledge And Skills In Vascular Access And Ensure That The Nurse Is Up-To-Date On The Latest Techniques And Best Practices.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Vascular Access: Candidates For A Registered Nurse - Vascular Access Job At Mercy Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Providing Vascular Access Services. This Experience Allows The Nurse To Develop Expertise In Performing Procedures, Managing Complications, And Educating Patients On Post-Procedure Care.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse - Vascular Access, The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Crucial. Additionally, Strong Critical Thinking Skills Are Necessary To Assess Patient Needs, Develop Treatment Plans, And Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In Emergency Situations.
