Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Mercy as an Inpatient Medical Surgical Nurse.   1. Provide compassionate and high-quality nursing care to patients in the inpatient medical surgical unit.
  2. Monitor and assess patients' health status and promptly report any changes to the healthcare team.
  3. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing protocols.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  5. Perform and document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  6. Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  7. Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  8. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex patient care situations.
  9. Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  10. Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that their physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs are met.
  11. Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing students, new hires, and other members of the healthcare team.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  13. Maintain professional knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training.
  14. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  15. Display a positive and professional attitude, promoting teamwork and a collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn License In The State Of Employment.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.

  • Bls Certification From The American Heart Association.

  • Bachelor's Or Associate's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Program.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In An Acute Care Medical Surgical Setting.
