Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our tiniest patients and their families. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated nurse to join our team and provide specialized care for infants in critical conditions.   1. Provide specialized care for infants in critical conditions in the NICU.
  2. Monitor and assess the health of newborns, including vital signs and developmental milestones.
  3. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
  4. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  5. Educate and support parents and family members on caring for their newborn and understanding their condition.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  7. Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or changes in patient status.
  8. Adhere to strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for patients.
  9. Serve as an advocate for infants and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
  10. Stay current on advancements in neonatal care and participate in ongoing education and training.
  11. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion while interacting with patients and their families.
  12. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
  13. Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve the care and outcomes of NICU patients.
  15. Remain calm and composed in high-stress situations and provide emotional support to families during difficult times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Required For A Registered Nurse - Nicu Position At Mercy. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received A Comprehensive Education In Nursing And Is Equipped With The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Specialized Care In The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

  • Active Rn License In The State Of Employment: Mercy Requires All Candidates For A Registered Nurse - Nicu Position To Hold An Active Registered Nursing License In The State Where They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Legally Authorized To Practice Nursing And Is Up-To-Date With The State's Nursing Regulations.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Nicu Setting: Mercy Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Provide Specialized Care To Critically Ill And Premature Newborns And Their Families.

  • Bls And Nrp Certification: Mercy Requires All Registered Nurse - Nicu Candidates To Hold Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications. These Certifications Ensure That The Candidate Is Trained In Life-Saving Techniques And Is Prepared To Respond To Emergencies In The Nicu.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse - Nicu, Effective Communication And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential For Providing Quality Care To Newborns And Their Families. Mercy Looks For Candidates Who Can Effectively Communicate With Physicians, Colleagues, And Families, And Who Can Think Critically To Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
