Job Description

  1. Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients with mental health issues.
  2. Collaborate with other members of the behavioral health team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  3. Administer medications and monitor patients for potential side effects or adverse reactions.
  4. Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately.
  5. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.
  6. Monitor and evaluate patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
  7. Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, medications, and coping strategies.
  8. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for patients.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  12. Attend trainings and conferences to stay current on best practices in mental health nursing.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  14. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  16. Display a professional and caring attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues.
  17. Continuously strive to provide exceptional care and improve patient outcomes.
  18. Handle stressful situations and crisis interventions in a calm and effective manner.
  19. Assist in discharge planning and provide resources for patients to continue their care after leaving the hospital.
  20. Willingness to work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Registered Nurse (Rn) Position At Mercy Requires At Least A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Nursing Principles And Is Well-Equipped To Provide Quality Care To Patients.

  • Current Rn License In The State Of Practice: To Work As An Rn At Mercy, Candidates Must Possess A Valid And Unrestricted Registered Nurse License In The State Where The Job Is Located. This Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The State's Requirements For Education And Competency In Nursing.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Behavioral Health: Mercy Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Behavioral Health Setting. This Shows That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of Mental Health Conditions And Is Familiar With Evidence-Based Practices In Behavioral Health Care.

  • Bls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification Is A Requirement For All Rn Positions At Mercy. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained In Basic Life-Saving Techniques And Can Respond Effectively To Emergency Situations.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Behavioral Health Rn, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Rapport, Providing Emotional Support, And Coordinating Care Effectively.
