Public Safety Officer

- Monitor and patrol the facility to deter and detect potential security threats.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to all emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence to provide reassurance and assistance to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Enforce facility policies and procedures to ensure safety and security protocols are followed.
- Conduct thorough investigations of any security incidents and complete detailed incident reports.
- Utilize security systems and equipment, such as cameras, alarms, and radios, to monitor and address any security concerns.
- Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to coordinate response and ensure a swift and effective resolution to any security issues.
- Act as a liaison between the facility and law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Communicate any safety concerns or potential hazards to the appropriate personnel and take necessary actions to mitigate risks.
- Stay current on safety and security procedures and participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of daily activities and incidents.
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards related to security and confidentiality.
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Continuously assess and identify areas for improvement in the facility's safety and security measures.
Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Required, With Preference Given To Candidates Who Have Completed Some Form Of Post-Secondary Education Or Training In Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Or A Related Field.
Physical Fitness: Candidates Must Possess And Maintain A High Level Of Physical Fitness, As The Job Requires Physical Exertion And The Ability To Respond Quickly To Emergency Situations. This May Include Passing A Physical Fitness Test And Meeting Certain Strength And Endurance Standards.
Communication Skills: Public Safety Officers Must Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills, As They Will Be Interacting With A Diverse Population And Working Closely With Other Emergency Response Personnel. The Ability To Remain Calm And Communicate Effectively In High-Stress Situations Is Also Important.
Prior Experience: While Prior Experience Is Not Always Required, Candidates With Previous Experience In Law Enforcement, Security, Or Emergency Response Will Be Given Preference. This Experience Can Include Work In A Similar Role, Military Service, Or Volunteer Work.
Background Check And Licensing: Candidates Must Undergo A Thorough Background Check, Including Criminal History, Driving Record, And Credit Check. They Must Also Possess A Valid Driver's License And May Be Required To Obtain And Maintain Various Certifications, Such As Cpr And First Aid.
