- Conducting Sleep Studies: Perform and analyze polysomnograms to diagnose sleep disorders, including monitoring patients' heart rate, breathing, and brain activity.
- Patient Care: Interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner, explain procedures, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans for patients based on the results of their sleep studies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of polysomnography equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Data Analysis: Accurately interpret and analyze data from sleep studies, prepare reports, and maintain patient records with confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Quality Control: Adhere to established protocols and standards to ensure accuracy and consistency in sleep study results.
- Research and Education: Stay current with the latest developments in sleep medicine, attend conferences and workshops, and contribute to research and education initiatives to further improve patient care.
- Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and technicians, to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on sleep disorders, treatment options, and lifestyle changes to improve their sleep and overall well-being.
- Adherence to Regulations: Comply with all regulatory guidelines and standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations, to ensure patient safety and privacy.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Patient Education.
Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Polysomnography, Respiratory Care, Or Neuroscience.
Certification In Polysomnography Through The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In Conducting And Scoring Sleep Studies, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting.
Knowledge Of Various Sleep Disorders And Treatment Options, As Well As An Understanding Of Equipment And Technology Used In Polysomnography.
