Job Description

Are you passionate about helping others improve their sleep and overall health? Do you have experience in conducting sleep studies and analyzing data? If so, Mercy is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders for our patients.   1. Conduct sleep studies: Perform various sleep tests, including polysomnography, to diagnose and monitor sleep disorders in patients.
  2. Analyze data: Utilize specialized equipment and software to accurately analyze and interpret sleep data collected during sleep studies.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with sleep disorders.
  4. Educate patients: Explain sleep study procedures and results to patients and their families, and provide education on sleep hygiene and treatment options for sleep disorders.
  5. Maintain equipment: Ensure all sleep study equipment is properly calibrated and maintained to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  6. Document and report findings: Record and document all data collected during sleep studies, and prepare detailed reports for physicians to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  7. Monitor patient safety: Monitor patients during sleep studies to ensure their safety and well-being, and respond to any issues or emergencies that may arise.
  8. Stay updated on industry standards: Keep up-to-date with advancements in sleep study technology and techniques, and implement best practices to improve the quality of sleep studies.
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
  10. Foster a positive patient experience: Create a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients during sleep studies, and provide compassionate care to help alleviate any anxiety or discomfort.
  11. Adhere to protocols and guidelines: Follow established protocols and guidelines for conducting sleep studies, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  12. Continuously improve processes: Identify areas for improvement and make suggestions for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of sleep study procedures.
  13. Attend trainings and conferences: Participate in continuing education opportunities to stay current with industry developments and maintain professional certification.
  14. Uphold organizational values: Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity and compassion, and adhere to the mission and values of the organization in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Polysomnography, Respiratory Care, Or Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification As A Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Rpsgt) Through The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Conducting And Interpreting Polysomnographic Studies In A Clinical Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Current Sleep Disorder Diagnostic And Treatment Modalities, As Well As Familiarity With Electronic Medical Record Systems.

  • Excellent Communication Skills And Ability To Work Collaboratively In A Multidisciplinary Team Environment.
