Mercy is seeking an experienced and passionate Phlebotomist to join our team and help provide exceptional care to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to collect blood and other specimens from patients with the utmost respect, accuracy, and safety. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. You should also have a valid Phlebotomy Technician certification and be familiar with OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities:
- Perform venipunctures and other specimen collection procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure accuracy of all specimens collected and accompanying paperwork.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during the specimen-collection process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure specimen accuracy.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens.
- Maintain patient records and document all activities in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist in training and orienting new employees.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices.
