Job Description

As a Patient Transporter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients' comfort and safety during their time at our facility.   1. Transport patients safely and efficiently to and from various locations within the facility, including but not limited to exam rooms, diagnostic testing areas, and treatment rooms.
  2. Ensure patients are comfortable and at ease during the transportation process, taking into consideration any physical limitations or special needs.
  3. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion at all times, providing a positive and reassuring experience for patients.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare staff to ensure all necessary information is conveyed and understood.
  5. Follow established protocols and procedures for patient transport, including infection control measures and safety guidelines.
  6. Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or concerns to appropriate healthcare staff.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation of patient transport activities and other related tasks.
  8. Assist with maintaining a clean and organized transportation area, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment as needed.
  9. Work collaboratively with other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care and support.
  10. Attend trainings and meetings as required to stay up-to-date on policies and procedures related to patient transport.
  11. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  12. Take on additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by supervisor or other healthcare staff.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Transporter At Mercy Should Have At Least A High School Education Or Equivalent To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.

  • Previous Healthcare Experience: Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Preferred For This Role As It Provides A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Patient Transporter, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Staff On A Daily Basis. Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential For This Role.

  • Physical Strength And Stamina: This Position Requires A Significant Amount Of Physical Activity, Such As Pushing Wheelchairs And Moving Patients In And Out Of Beds. Candidates Should Be Able To Lift And Carry Up To 50 Pounds And Have The Stamina To Be On Their Feet For Long Periods.

  • Team Player Attitude: Working As Part Of A Team Is Crucial In A Healthcare Setting. A Successful Patient Transporter Should Have A Positive And Cooperative Attitude, Be Able To Work Well With Others, And Be Willing To Assist In Other Tasks When Needed.
