  1. Transport patients safely and efficiently to and from various areas within the facility.
  2. Ensure the comfort and well-being of patients during transportation.
  3. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion while interacting with patients.
  4. Follow proper safety protocols and procedures when transporting patients, including properly securing equipment and assisting with transfers.
  5. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient transportation needs and updates.
  6. Maintain accurate records of patient transportation and report any issues or concerns to appropriate staff.
  7. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  8. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and HIPAA regulations.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and efficient patient transportation.
  10. Attend required trainings and meetings to maintain knowledge of transportation protocols and procedures.
  11. Assist with other tasks as needed, such as stocking supplies and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  12. Uphold the mission, values, and standards of Mercy in all interactions with patients, staff, and visitors.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Patient Transporter Job At Mercy Would Be A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Healthcare Services.

  • Cpr And Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Mercy May Require Candidates For A Patient Transporter Job To Have Current Cpr And Bls Certification. This Shows That The Candidate Has The Necessary Skills To Provide Emergency Care If Needed During Patient Transport.

  • Previous Experience In Healthcare Or Customer Service: Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting Or Working In A Customer Service Role Would Be An Asset For A Patient Transporter At Mercy. This Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Customer Service Skills.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Patient Transporter, One Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Doctors, And Other Healthcare Professionals, As Well As Providing A Comforting And Reassuring Presence For Patients During Transport.

  • Physical Ability To Lift And Move Patients: The Job Of A Patient Transporter At Mercy May Involve Lifting And Moving Patients Who May Be In Wheelchairs, On Stretchers, Or Using Other Mobility Aids. Therefore, Candidates Must Have The Physical Ability To Perform These Tasks Safely And Effectively.
