  1. Greet and welcome patients, visitors, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Register new patients and update existing patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
  3. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  4. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
  5. Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and other fees.
  6. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  7. Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  8. Assist patients with any questions or concerns they may have regarding their healthcare experience.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing and resolving any patient concerns or complaints.
  11. Stay up-to-date with healthcare policies, procedures, and regulations.
  12. Attend training and meetings to continuously improve knowledge and skills.
  13. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  14. Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity towards patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of Mercy in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Service Representative At Mercy Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals In Person, Over The Phone, And Through Email.

  • Strong Customer Service Skills: As The First Point Of Contact For Patients, A Patient Service Representative Must Have Excellent Customer Service Skills And Be Able To Handle Difficult Situations With Empathy And Professionalism.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Patient Service Representative To Accurately Schedule Appointments, Answer Patient Questions, And Communicate With Healthcare Providers.

  • Ability To Multitask: Working As A Patient Service Representative At Mercy Requires The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks Simultaneously, Such As Answering Phones, Scheduling Appointments, And Updating Patient Records.

  • Experience With Electronic Medical Records (Emr): Proficiency In Using Emr Systems Is Often A Requirement For A Patient Service Representative At Mercy, As They Will Be Responsible For Updating And Maintaining Patient Records.
