- Greet patients and answer incoming calls in a warm and friendly manner.
- Schedule appointments for patients with primary care physicians.
- Obtain and update patient information accurately in the electronic medical records system.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
- Assist patients with inquiries regarding their appointments, medical records, and general questions about the practice.
- Collaborate with primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure prompt and efficient patient care.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and empathy while handling patient concerns and complaints.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Continuously stay updated on changes in healthcare policies, procedures, and insurance guidelines.

- Work closely with other call center team members to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.

Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Service Agent At Mercy Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills In Order To Effectively And Efficiently Handle Patient Inquiries And Concerns Over The Phone. This Includes The Ability To Listen Actively, Speak Clearly And Concisely, And Convey Empathy And Understanding.
Knowledge Of Primary Care Medical Terminology: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Primary Care Medical Terminology And Procedures. This Will Enable Them To Accurately Address Patient Questions And Concerns, And Provide Appropriate Guidance On Scheduling Appointments And Referrals.
Experience In Customer Service: Prior Experience In A Customer Service Role, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting, Is Highly Desirable For A Patient Service Agent At Mercy. This Experience Will Demonstrate The Ability To Handle Difficult Situations, Provide Excellent Service, And Maintain A Positive And Professional Attitude.
Computer Proficiency: The Job Of A Patient Service Agent At Mercy Requires The Use Of Various Computer Programs And Systems To Schedule Appointments, Access Patient Records, And Communicate With Other Healthcare Providers. Therefore, Proficiency In Basic Computer Skills And The Ability To Learn New Software Quickly Is Essential For This Role.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Primary Care Call Center At Mercy Is A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment, With A High Volume Of Calls And Inquiries.
