- Provide compassionate and attentive care to patients in the Emergency Department at Mercy.
- Assist with patient admissions, including gathering necessary information and completing required documentation.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Assist with patient hygiene and personal care needs, including bathing, toileting, and dressing.
- Prepare and maintain patient rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Respond to patient and family needs and concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
- Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and trainings to stay updated on best practices and procedures.
- Continuously strive to improve patient care by seeking feedback and implementing new techniques and approaches.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during times of stress or uncertainty.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Technician At Mercy's St. Louis Ed Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Ability To Comprehend Medical Terminology And Procedures.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Medical Assistant (Ma) Certification: A Cna Or Ma Certification Is Typically Required For The Role Of A Patient Care Technician At Mercy. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Provide Hands-On Patient Care.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Healthcare Provider, A Patient Care Technician At Mercy's St. Louis Ed Must Be Certified In Bls. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained In Life-Saving Techniques And Can Respond Quickly And Effectively In Emergency Situations.
