  1. Provide compassionate care to patients: The primary responsibility of a Patient Care Technician at Mercy is to provide compassionate care to patients by attending to their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  2. Assist healthcare professionals: PCTs play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals by assisting with tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting samples, and transporting patients.
  3. Ensure patient comfort and well-being: PCTs are responsible for ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients by providing assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  4. Maintain a safe and clean environment: PCTs are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients by following infection control protocols, sanitizing equipment, and organizing supplies.
  5. Communicate effectively: PCTs must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. This includes listening actively, relaying important information, and providing clear instructions.
  6. Document patient information: PCTs are responsible for accurately documenting patient information, including vital signs, observations, and any interventions provided.
  7. Collaborate with the healthcare team: PCTs must be team players and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient care for patients.
  8. Adhere to policies and procedures: PCTs must adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safety, and patient rights.
  9. Participate in training and development: PCTs are expected to participate in training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in patient care.
  10. Demonstrate empathy and professionalism: PCTs must demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, to uphold the values of Mercy.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Technician At Mercy Is Required To Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate Basic Education And Knowledge.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Mercy Prefers Candidates Who Are Certified Nursing Assistants, As They Possess The Necessary Hands-On Patient Care Experience And Training.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Mercy Requires All Patient Care Technicians To Be Certified In Bls, As This Is An Essential Skill When Providing Direct Patient Care In Emergency Situations.

  • Previous Healthcare Experience: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Nursing Home, Is Preferred For This Position. This Experience Demonstrates An Understanding Of Healthcare Protocols And Patient Care Practices.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Patient Care Technician At Mercy, As They Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Effectively In Both Written And Verbal Forms.
