We are currently seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) in our Medical Surgical unit. In this role, you will play a critical role in providing essential care and support to our patients and their families.   1. Provide compassionate and attentive care to patients in the Medical Surgical unit.
  2. Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  3. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature.
  4. Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare providers.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, following infection control guidelines.
  7. Assist with patient transfers and mobility, including using proper lifting techniques.
  8. Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
  9. Respond to patient and family needs and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  10. Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  11. Participate in team meetings and provide input to improve patient care processes.
  12. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
  13. Continuously seek opportunities for learning and professional development.
  14. Maintain a positive attitude and promote a culture of compassion and excellence in patient service.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Associate At Mercy Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education To Ensure They Have A Strong Foundation In Basic Academic Skills.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: A Cna Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Skills In Providing Basic Patient Care, Such As Assisting With Daily Activities, Taking Vital Signs, And Maintaining Patient Hygiene.

  • Previous Experience In A Medical Or Healthcare Setting: Experience Working In A Hospital, Clinic, Or Other Healthcare Setting Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Care Associate As It Provides Them With A Better Understanding Of The Healthcare Environment And Patient Care Processes.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Pca In The Medical-Surgical Unit, The Candidate May Need To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Basic Life Support. Therefore, Having A Bls Certification Is Essential.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Patient Care Associate Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Also Have Strong Interpersonal Skills To Build Rapport And Establish Trust With Patients And Their Families.
