- Provide compassionate and exceptional patient care at all times.
- Assist patients with their basic medical and personal needs, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, intake and output, and report any abnormalities to the appropriate medical personnel.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment by following infection control and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Assist with patient transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment as needed.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times.
- Document patient observations, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude towards patients, colleagues, and visitors.
- Respond to patient calls and requests promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by healthcare team leaders.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Associate At Mercy Should Have A Minimum Education Level Of A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Basic Skills And Knowledge To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Medical Assistant (Ma) Certification: At Mercy, A Patient Care Associate Is Expected To Have A Valid Certification As A Cna Or Ma. This Certification Shows That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training In Patient Care And Has The Necessary Skills To Assist Medical Professionals.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Mercy Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting. This Could Include Experience As A Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Or Other Related Roles. This Experience Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Healthcare Environment And Has A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Patient Care Associate At Mercy Should Have Strong Communication Skills To Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Medical Staff. They Should Also Have Good Interpersonal Skills To Build A Rapport With Patients And Make Them Feel Comfortable.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment: Working In A Healthcare Setting Can Be Demanding, And A Patient Care Associate At Mercy Should Be Able To Handle A Fast-Paced And Ever-Changing Environment. They Should Be Able To Multitask, Work Efficiently Under Pressure, And Adapt To New Situations Quickly.
