  1. Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and visitors at Mercy, creating a welcoming and compassionate atmosphere.
  2. Utilize strong knowledge of optical products and services to help patients select the best eyewear for their individual needs.
  3. Conduct thorough and accurate vision assessments and measurements to assist in prescribing appropriate eyewear.
  4. Maintain a high level of attention to detail when filling and adjusting prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and proper fit for each patient.
  5. Educate patients on proper care and maintenance of eyewear, as well as potential eye health concerns.
  6. Work closely with the rest of the healthcare team to ensure seamless coordination of care for patients.
  7. Keep updated on industry trends and advancements in optical products and services, and make recommendations for improvements or changes to the team.
  8. Maintain accurate records of patient information, including prescription details and insurance information.
  9. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  10. Continuously strive for excellence in patient satisfaction and quality of care, representing Mercy's commitment to exceptional service.

Job Qualifications
  • A Degree In Opticianry: Candidates Should Possess A Degree In Opticianry From An Accredited Institution. This Will Ensure That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of An Optician.

  • State Licensure: Opticians At Mercy Are Required To Be Licensed By The State In Which They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures That They Have Met The Minimum Requirements For Education And Training, And Are Legally Allowed To Practice.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In An Optometry Or Ophthalmology Practice. This Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Work With Patients And Perform Duties Such As Fitting And Adjusting Eyeglasses And Contact Lenses.

  • Strong Customer Service Skills: Opticians At Mercy Will Be Working Directly With Patients, So Excellent Customer Service Skills Are A Must. This Includes Being Able To Communicate Effectively, Listen To Patients' Needs, And Provide Personalized Recommendations.

  • Knowledge Of Vision Insurance: Mercy Works With Various Vision Insurance Providers, So Candidates Should Have A Good Understanding Of Different Insurance Plans And How To Process Claims. This Will Be Important In Providing A Seamless Experience For Patients.
