Job Description

  1. Assist nurses and medical staff in providing patient care: The Nurse Technician will be responsible for assisting nurses and medical staff in various tasks such as taking vital signs, providing basic patient care, and monitoring patient progress.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean environment: The Nurse Technician will ensure that patient rooms and common areas are clean and well-maintained to promote a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  3. Monitor patient status and report changes: The Nurse Technician will be responsible for regularly monitoring patient status and reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  4. Provide emotional support to patients and families: The Nurse Technician will use their compassionate nature to provide emotional support to patients and their families during their stay, promoting a positive and caring experience.
  5. Assist with patient procedures: The Nurse Technician may be responsible for assisting with various patient procedures, such as taking blood samples or assisting with wound care, under the guidance of a nurse or medical staff.
  6. Document patient information: The Nurse Technician will accurately document patient information, including vital signs, intake and output, and any changes in patient status, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with healthcare team: The Nurse Technician will work closely with the healthcare team, including nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  8. Adhere to infection control protocols: The Nurse Technician will follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital and protect the health and safety of patients and staff.
  9. Participate in training and development: The Nurse Technician will participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in patient care.
  10. Uphold hospital policies and procedures: The Nurse Technician will adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality and safety protocols, to maintain a high standard of care.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Nursing Assistant Certification: A Nurse Technician At Mercy Must Have A Valid Certification As A Nursing Assistant From An Accredited Program. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Nurse Technician.

  • Experience In Med Surg Departments: Previous Experience Working In A Medical-Surgical Department Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Includes Experience With Patient Care, Vital Sign Monitoring, And Assisting With Procedures Commonly Performed In This Type Of Unit.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: The Ability To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Basic Life Support Is Essential For A Nurse Technician. Candidates Must Hold A Current Bls Certification From The American Heart Association.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Nurse Technician, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Families, And Members Of The Healthcare Team. Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial For Providing Quality Care And Ensuring Patient Safety.

  • Physical Requirements: The Job Of A Nurse Technician Can Be Physically Demanding, Requiring Long Periods Of Standing, Lifting, And Moving Patients. Candidates Must Be Able To Meet These Physical Requirements And Possess The Stamina To Work Long Shifts And Handle A Fast-Paced Environment.
