Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Mercy as a Medical Assistant in our Orthopedics department. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients and supporting our medical team.   1. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients in a professional manner.
  2. Assist physicians and other medical staff in providing quality care to patients.
  3. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and handling insurance paperwork.
  4. Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories.
  5. Assist with in-office procedures and treatments, such as casting and wound care.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe working environment for patients and staff.
  7. Educate patients on proper care and self-management techniques.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
  9. Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  10. Stay up-to-date on medical procedures and technologies related to orthopedics.
  11. Monitor and order supplies as needed.
  12. Collaborate with other medical assistants and staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  13. Participate in training and educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  14. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  15. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  16. Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance patient care.
  17. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  18. Keep accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and treatments.
  19. Attend staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of the orthopedics department.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant: The Candidate Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Medical Assistant From An Accredited Program. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Assist In Orthopedic Procedures And Treatments.

  • Knowledge Of Orthopedic Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Orthopedic Procedures, Such As Casting, Splinting, And Assisting In Surgeries. This Knowledge Will Enable Them To Provide Efficient And Accurate Support To The Orthopedic Team.

  • Experience In Orthopedics: Prior Experience In An Orthopedic Setting Is Highly Preferred. This Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Familiarity With Orthopedic Equipment, Terminology, And Procedures, Making Them A Valuable Asset To The Team.

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant In Orthopedics, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Provide Compassionate Care And Create A Positive Patient Experience.

  • Attention To Detail: Orthopedic Procedures Require A High Level Of Precision And Attention To Detail. The Candidate Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail To Ensure Accurate Documentation And Proper Execution Of Procedures, Reducing The Risk Of Complications For Patients.
