Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Medical Assistant in our Orthopedic Surgery department at Mercy. Join our team and make a difference in the lives of our patients every day. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to assist our physicians in providing high-quality care to our orthopedic patients.   1. Assist physicians in providing high-quality care to orthopedic patients.
  2. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and explaining procedures.
  3. Sterilize and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
  4. Provide assistance during orthopedic surgeries.
  5. Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times.
  6. Document patient information accurately and maintain medical records.
  7. Administer medications and vaccines as directed by physicians.
  8. Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures, such as blood draws and urine tests.
  9. Educate patients on post-operative care and provide instructions for at-home recovery.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other medical staff.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  12. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
  13. Stay up to date with current medical practices and procedures.
  14. Participate in department meetings and trainings.
  15. Assist with scheduling and organizing patient appointments and procedures.
  16. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  17. Provide excellent customer service and address patient concerns or questions.
  18. Uphold the values and mission of the organization.
  19. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient privacy.
  20. Continuously strive for excellence and contribute to the growth and success of the department.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Or Registered Medical Assistant (Rma) Credentials.

  • Experience In An Orthopedic Surgery Setting, With Knowledge Of Procedures And Terminology.

  • Proficiency In Electronic Health Records (Ehr) And Other Medical Software.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Well In A Team.

  • Familiarity With Common Orthopedic Medical Equipment And Instruments, As Well As Sterilization Procedures.
