  1. Greet and welcome patients in a warm and friendly manner, creating a positive first impression of Mercy South Cardiology.
  2. Assist physicians in providing high-quality and personalized care to patients by taking vital signs, updating medical records, and assisting with procedures.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including exam rooms and equipment, to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for patients.
  4. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to protect the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure efficient and coordinated care.
  6. Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and process insurance information accurately and efficiently.
  7. Assist with patient education by providing information on treatment plans, medications, and preventative measures to promote overall health and well-being.
  8. Monitor and order medical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely delivery.
  9. Participate in continuing education and training opportunities to stay current on medical advancements and best practices.
  10. Uphold Mercy's core values of compassion, excellence, and innovation in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and the community.
  11. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to identify and implement process improvements for optimal patient care.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  13. Perform any other duties as assigned by the physician or supervisor to support the smooth operation of Mercy South Cardiology.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For A Medical Assistant Position At Mercy South Cardiology Must Have Successfully Completed A Program Accredited By Either The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs (Caahep) Or The Accrediting Bureau Of Health Education Schools (Abhes).

  • Certification As A Medical Assistant: Mercy Requires All Medical Assistant Candidates To Hold A Valid Certification As A Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Through The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or A Registered Medical Assistant (Rma) Through American Medical Technologists (Amt).

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology, As Well As Experience With Various Medical Procedures Such As Taking Vital Signs, Administering Injections, And Performing Ekgs.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Both Patients And Healthcare Providers. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Effectively Conveying Information And Building Relationships With Patients And Colleagues.

  • Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting: While Not Required, Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Particularly In A Cardiology Practice, Is Highly Desirable For This Position. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With Medical Office Procedures And Protocols, As Well As Their Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Healthcare Environment.
