
Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine

- Greet and welcome patients in a warm and friendly manner, creating a positive first impression of the Mercy healthcare experience.
- Assist physicians and other medical staff in providing high-quality patient care by performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks.
- Take and record vital signs, patient medical history, and other important health information accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are properly stocked and cleaned for each patient visit.
- Assist with medical procedures and treatments as directed by the physician, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing education and instruction on medical procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow, coordinating referrals, and addressing any patient concerns or needs.
- Stay up-to-date on medical procedures, equipment, and technology, attending training and development opportunities as needed.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times, displaying empathy and understanding towards patients and their families.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the physician or practice manager, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.
Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For A Medical Assistant Position At Mercy Should Have A Certificate Or Degree From An Accredited Medical Assistant Program. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.
Prior Experience In Internal Medicine: Mercy May Prefer Candidates Who Have Previous Experience Working In An Internal Medicine Setting. This Experience Can Help Them Quickly Adapt To The Specific Needs And Procedures Of The Department And Provide Quality Care To Patients.
Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records (Emr) Systems: As Mercy Is A Modern Healthcare Facility, Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Electronic Medical Records Systems. This Includes Proficiency In Documenting Patient Information, Scheduling Appointments, And Managing Other Administrative Tasks Using Emr Software.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Medical Assistants At Mercy Will Work Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Communicate With Different Individuals And Provide Exceptional Patient Care.
Certification: While Not Always Required, Having A Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Can Demonstrate A Candidate's Commitment To The Profession And Their Knowledge Of Medical Assisting Principles And Practices.
