- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees within Mercy facilities.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the public safety department, including scheduling, training, and performance management of security personnel.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits of security measures and protocols, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as facilities management and human resources, to address any safety concerns or incidents.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and trends in public safety and security, and implement new strategies as needed to improve overall safety.
- Manage the budget for the public safety department, making recommendations for equipment and resources needed to maintain a secure environment.
- Serve as the main point of contact for emergency situations, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency response teams as necessary.
- Communicate and collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure alignment of public safety goals and initiatives with the overall mission of Mercy.
- Implement and manage a comprehensive training program for all employees on safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all safety incidents, and provide regular updates and recommendations to hospital leadership on areas of improvement.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Public Safety Management: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing Public Safety Operations, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field: A Degree In Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Or A Similar Field Is Typically Required For A Manager-Public Safety Position At Mercy.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills: As A Manager, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Public Safety Officers And Communicating With Various Departments And Stakeholders. Therefore, Excellent Leadership And Communication Skills Are Essential.
Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Standards: Mercy Is A Healthcare Organization, So The Manager-Public Safety Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Relevant Laws, Regulations, And Industry Standards Related To Public Safety In A Healthcare Setting.
Emergency Preparedness Experience: The Manager-Public Safety Will Be Responsible For Developing And Implementing Emergency Preparedness Plans At Mercy. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Experience In Emergency Management And Be Familiar With Disaster Response Protocols.
