As the Manager of Lab Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our laboratory services. You will oversee the daily operations of our lab, manage a team of dedicated lab technicians, and collaborate with other departments to ensure the highest quality of patient care.To excel in this role, you must have a strong background in lab operations, with at least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position. You should also possess a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field, as well as a valid state license.   1. Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory services at Mercy, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
  2. Manage and supervise a team of dedicated lab technicians, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure high-quality work.
  3. Collaborate with other departments, such as nursing and physicians, to ensure seamless coordination and communication for patient care.
  4. Develop and implement protocols and procedures for the laboratory to ensure accurate and timely test results, consistent with industry standards.
  5. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies, equipment, and reagents, ensuring adequate stock for uninterrupted operations.
  6. Review and analyze lab reports and data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  7. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines, including OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA.
  8. Train and onboard new lab staff, providing ongoing education and professional development opportunities for the team.
  9. Oversee all quality control and assurance processes, including proficiency testing, to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  10. Stay up-to-date on advancements and developments in the field of lab operations, implementing new technologies and techniques to improve services.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the lab and other departments, communicating any issues or concerns and working collaboratively to find solutions.
  12. Manage budget and expenses for the lab, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
  13. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment for the lab team, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  14. Ensure high ethical standards and confidentiality are maintained for all patient information and lab procedures.
  15. Represent Mercy and the lab operations at meetings, conferences, and events, promoting the organization's mission and values.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Laboratory Operations, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, Or A Related Field.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Experience Managing A Team Of Laboratory Professionals.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Regulations And Compliance Requirements, Including Clia, Cap, And Hipaa.

  • Excellent Communication And Problem-Solving Abilities, With A Focus On Quality Improvement And Efficiency.
