We are currently seeking a skilled Histotechnician II to join our team on a full-time basis, working nights. As a Histotechnician II, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory department, utilizing your expertise in histology to prepare tissue samples for diagnosis and treatment.   1. Prepare tissue samples for diagnosis and treatment using histology techniques.
  2. Perform routine and specialized histological procedures accurately and efficiently.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring their proper functioning.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all procedures and results.
  5. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  6. Collaborate with medical technologists and pathologists to ensure timely and accurate results.
  7. Monitor and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during procedures.
  8. Participate in quality control and assurance programs to maintain accuracy and precision.
  9. Stay up-to-date with new and emerging techniques and technologies in the field of histology.
  10. Train and mentor junior histotechnicians on laboratory protocols and procedures.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals regarding sample collection and results.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.
  13. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  15. Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Biological Sciences Or Related Field: A Histotechnician Ii At Mercy Is Expected To Have A Strong Foundation In The Biological Sciences, Which Is Typically Demonstrated Through A Completed Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field.

  • Htl (Ascp) Certification: The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Offers Certification For Histotechnicians, And Mercy May Require Candidates For This Position To Hold A Htl (Ascp) Certification To Ensure Their Proficiency In The Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Histotechnician: Mercy May Prefer Candidates Who Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Histotechnician, As This Demonstrates A Certain Level Of Proficiency And Familiarity With The Duties And Responsibilities Of The Role.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Histology Protocols And Procedures: A Histotechnician Ii At Mercy Is Expected To Have A Deep Understanding Of Histology Protocols And Procedures, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, And Staining Techniques, To Ensure Accurate And Timely Results.

  • Attention To Detail And Strong Organizational Skills: As A Histotechnician Ii, One Must Be Extremely Detail-Oriented And Have Strong Organizational Skills To Manage Multiple Tasks And Ensure Accuracy In Handling And Processing Samples And Specimens. This Is Especially Important For This Role As It Involves Working With Delicate Tissue Samples.
