
Health Information Technician
At Mercy, we are looking for a Health Information Technician to join our team and help us deliver quality care to our patients. This position will be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and protecting our patients’ health information. We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about providing exceptional customer service to our patients.The successful candidate will have a strong background in health information management, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology or a related field is required. The ideal candidate should also have a basic knowledge of medical terminology and coding. We are looking for an individual with a professional demeanor and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, maintain, and protect patient health information by following HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
- Enter patient health information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure accuracy of data entered into EHR system.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Answer patient questions regarding their health information.
- Ensure accuracy of medical coding and billing information.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare staff and other departments.
- Monitor and update patient health information on a regular basis.
- Assist with health information audits.
- Generate reports and statistics as needed.
Excellent Organizational Skills
