
Health Information Technician
Mercy is seeking an experienced Health Information Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of medical terminology and medical coding, as well as the ability to effectively manage and organize large amounts of patient data. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient data into the hospital’s electronic health record system.
- Apply medical coding principles to patient records in order to ensure accuracy and compliance with government regulations.
- Analyze patient records for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with healthcare professionals regarding patient data.
- Monitor and verify information for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in the development of data collection and reporting processes as needed.
- Facilitate the transfer of patient data to other healthcare providers.
- Monitor patient files for compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in resolving issues related to medical coding and data entry.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the most current medical coding and billing standards.
