Job Description

Mercy is looking for an experienced Health Information Technician to join our team and make a difference in the lives of our patients. As the Health Information Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the medical records of our patients and ensuring that all information is accurately entered into our computer systems. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized individual with a passion for healthcare. The successful candidate must have an Associate's degree in Health Information Technology, or a related field, and at least two years of experience in a medical records role. Experience with medical coding or electronic health records systems is a plus. You must also be able to work independently and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately enter patient information into Mercy's computer systems.
  2. Ensure accuracy of patient records by regularly reviewing and updating information.
  3. Provide efficient and organized recordkeeping of patient medical records.
  4. Adhere to HIPPA and other regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  5. Maintain detailed and organized reports of medical records.
  6. Assist with medical coding and electronic health records.
  7. Provide excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Work independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
  9. Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  10. Stay up-to-date with current healthcare trends and regulations.
