Job Description

  1. Oversee and manage the outpatient coding team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely coding of all outpatient services.
  2. Develop and implement coding policies and procedures in alignment with industry standards and regulations.
  3. Monitor coding productivity and accuracy, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase efficiency.
  4. Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations, and ensure the team is trained and knowledgeable on all updates.
  5. Collaborate with other departments, such as billing and compliance, to ensure coding practices are in line with organizational goals and standards.
  6. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  7. Create and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment for the outpatient coding team.
  8. Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and development.
  9. Analyze coding data and provide reports to senior management on coding performance and trends.
  10. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for coding-related inquiries and issues.
  11. Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  12. Uphold the organization's commitment to compassionate care and excellence in all aspects of outpatient coding.
  13. Participate in hiring and training new team members, as needed.
  14. Develop and maintain relationships with external coding organizations and stay informed of industry best practices.
  15. Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of coding processes and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Outpatient Coding: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Hands-On Experience In Outpatient Coding, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Credential: A Valid Ccs Or Cpc Certification Is Essential For This Role As It Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Proficiency In Outpatient Coding.

  • Strong Understanding Of Icd-10-Cm, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Guidelines: The Director Of Outpatient Coding Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Coding Guidelines To Ensure Accurate And Compliant Coding For Outpatient Services.

  • Leadership And Managerial Experience: As A Director, The Candidate Should Have Previous Experience In A Leadership Or Managerial Role, Preferably In A Coding Department. They Should Have The Ability To Lead And Motivate A Team, And Effectively Manage Resources And Budgets.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance: The Healthcare Industry Is Heavily Regulated, And The Director Of Outpatient Coding Should Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Relevant Laws, Regulations, And Compliance Requirements To Ensure The Organization's Coding Practices Are In Line With Industry Standards.
