- Provide comprehensive and compassionate care to pregnant women and their families during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional well-being and develop individualized care plans.
- Monitor and record vital signs, fetal heart rate, and progress of labor.
- Administer medication, pain relief measures, and other interventions as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on prenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes for patients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Stay updated on current best practices and guidelines in midwifery care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research studies.
- Support and advocate for patients' rights and informed decision-making.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
- Assist with emergency situations and provide prompt and appropriate interventions.
- Continuously assess and evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Clinical Midwife At Mercy Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution. This Degree Provides The Necessary Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice, As Well As Specialized Courses In Midwifery.
Certification As A Certified Nurse Midwife (Cnm): Mercy Requires Its Clinical Midwives To Be Certified As Cnms. This Certification Is Obtained Through The American Midwifery Certification Board (Amcb) And Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Competency In Midwifery Practice.
State Licensure: In Addition To Being Certified As A Cnm, A Clinical Midwife At Mercy Must Also Hold A Valid Nursing License In The State In Which They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures That The Midwife Is Meeting All State-Mandated Requirements For Practice.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Clinical Experience: Mercy Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting As A Nurse Midwife. This Experience Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide High-Quality Care To Patients.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Clinical Midwife At Mercy, The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Build Relationships With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Essential. Midwives Must Be Able To Provide Compassionate And Supportive Care To Patients During The Childbirth Process.
