  1. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients in a caring and compassionate manner.
  2. Ensure the physical well-being of patients by assisting with daily tasks such as grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  3. Foster a positive and nurturing environment for patients by actively listening and engaging in meaningful conversations.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the overall well-being of patients.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and progress.
  6. Attend to the individual needs and preferences of each patient, respecting their privacy and dignity.
  7. Monitor and report any changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  8. Demonstrate strong communication skills by effectively communicating with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
  9. Uphold and promote Mercy's values of compassion, integrity, excellence, and teamwork.
  10. Continuously seek ways to improve the quality of care and enhance the patient experience.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience In Caregiving: Candidates For A Care Companion Job At Mercy Should Have Prior Experience In Providing Care To Individuals, Whether Through Formal Employment Or Personal Experience As A Caregiver For A Family Member Or Friend.

  • Compassionate And Empathetic Nature: A Crucial Qualification For A Care Companion At Mercy Is The Ability To Show Compassion And Empathy Towards Patients And Their Families. This Role Involves Providing Emotional Support And Comfort To Individuals In Vulnerable Situations.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Procedures: As A Care Companion, Candidates Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Healthcare Procedures And Protocols. This May Include Knowledge Of Basic First Aid, Medication Administration, And Infection Control.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential In This Role, As Care Companions Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Professionals. Candidates Should Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Information And Listen To Others' Needs.

  • Ability To Work Independently And As A Team: As A Care Companion, Candidates Should Be Able To Work Independently And Take Initiative When Necessary. However, They Should Also Be Able To Work Well Within A Team And Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals To Provide The Best Care For Patients.
