Job Description

  1. Provide high-quality athletic training services to patients, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  2. Collaborate with physicians, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for athletes.
  3. Conduct assessments and create personalized exercise programs for athletes to improve performance and prevent injuries.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient progress and treatment plans.
  5. Educate athletes on proper techniques for injury prevention, nutrition, and overall wellness.
  6. Respond promptly to athletic injuries and provide emergency care as needed.
  7. Stay up-to-date with advancements in sports medicine and implement new techniques and technologies in treatment.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care for athletes.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  10. Act as a role model for athletes and promote a positive and healthy lifestyle.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the practice of athletic training.
  12. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Collaborate with the sports medicine team to develop and implement policies and protocols for athletic training services.
  14. Represent Mercy in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  15. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Mercy and promote a culture of compassion and excellence in patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Athletic Training Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Athletic Training Principles And Techniques Is Essential For An Athletic Trainer At Mercy. A Bachelor's Degree In Athletic Training Or A Related Field Provides The Necessary Education And Training For This Role.

  • Certification By The National Athletic Trainers' Association (Nata): Nata Certification Is The Gold Standard For Athletic Trainers In The United States. It Ensures That The Individual Has Met The Rigorous Standards Set By The Organization And Is Qualified To Provide Athletic Training Services.

  • State Licensure: In Addition To Nata Certification, Most States Also Require Athletic Trainers To Be Licensed To Practice. This Ensures That The Individual Has Met The Specific Requirements And Regulations Set By The State To Practice As An Athletic Trainer.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: Athletic Trainers Often Work In High-Intensity And High-Risk Environments, Making It Important For Them To Have Up-To-Date Cpr And First Aid Certification. This Ensures That They Are Prepared To Act Quickly And Effectively In Case Of An Emergency.

  • Experience Working With Athletes: Mercy Is A Healthcare Organization That Focuses On Providing Care To Athletes And Active Individuals. Therefore, It Is Important For An Athletic Trainer At Mercy To Have Prior Experience Working With Athletes, Understanding Their Needs And Challenges, And Providing Effective Treatment And Care.
