  1. Lead and oversee the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of clinical trials to support the development and commercialization of new medicines and vaccines.
  2. Provide expert statistical guidance and input to cross-functional teams, including clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams.
  3. Develop and implement statistical strategies for clinical development programs, including study design, endpoints, and sample size calculations.
  4. Review and approve statistical analysis plans, study protocols, and clinical study reports.
  5. Conduct statistical analyses using appropriate methods and software, interpret results, and communicate key findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Ensure high-quality and timely delivery of statistical outputs, including tables, figures, and listings, for regulatory submissions and publications.
  7. Collaborate with external partners, such as contract research organizations and academic institutions, to support clinical development programs.
  8. Stay current with industry developments and best practices in statistics and apply new methodologies and techniques as appropriate.
  9. Mentor and train junior statisticians and other team members on statistical principles and methodologies.
  10. Participate in cross-functional and cross-departmental initiatives to improve processes and drive continuous improvement in statistical activities.
  11. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for statistical practices and data integrity.
  12. Participate in regulatory interactions and represent the company in statistical discussions with regulatory authorities.
  13. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and standards to ensure high-quality and efficient statistical support.
  14. Serve as a subject matter expert in statistics, providing guidance and advice to colleagues within and outside of the statistics department.
  15. Act as a role model for the company's values and culture, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Statistics Or Related Field: A Successful Candidate For The Senior Principal Statistician Role At Merck & Co. Should Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Statistics, Biostatistics, Or A Related Field. A Phd Is Preferred.

  • Extensive Experience In Statistical Analysis: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In Conducting Statistical Analyses In The Pharmaceutical Or Biotech Industry. They Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Statistical Methods And Be Able To Apply Them To Complex Data Sets.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Statistics Team, The Senior Principal Statistician Will Be Expected To Lead And Mentor Other Statisticians. Therefore, Strong Leadership Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: Merck & Co. Is A Highly Regulated Industry, And The Senior Principal Statistician Will Be Responsible For Ensuring That All Statistical Analyses Meet Regulatory Standards. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Fda And Other Regulatory Requirements.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Abilities: The Senior Principal Statistician Will Work Closely With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Researchers, Clinicians, And Other Stakeholders. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Crucial For This Role. The Ability To Present Complex Statistical Information In A Clear And Concise Manner Is Also Essential.
