  1. Lead the research and development efforts in the field of oncology, specifically in translational science and clinical biomarkers, to drive the discovery and development of innovative therapies for cancer patients.
  2. Design and execute strategic plans for the development and implementation of clinical biomarker assays to support drug development and personalized medicine approaches.
  3. Oversee a team of scientists and researchers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective execution of projects.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including bioinformatics, biostatistics, clinical development, and external partners to integrate biomarker strategies into clinical trials.
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and developments in oncology research and biomarker technology, and apply this knowledge to advance the company's pipeline.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and external partners to identify and evaluate potential collaborations and opportunities for research and development.
  7. Communicate complex scientific concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management, collaborators, and regulatory agencies.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards, and maintain high ethical standards in all aspects of work.
  9. Contribute to the overall scientific and strategic direction of the company by participating in scientific meetings, publications, and presentations.
  10. Mentor and develop team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.
  11. Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
  12. Collaborate with other departments, such as business development and marketing, to support the commercialization and launch of new products.
  13. Represent the company at scientific conferences, symposia, and other events to showcase the company's capabilities and expertise in oncology research.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Oncology Translational Science And Biomarker Development: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Strong Background In Oncology Research, With A Deep Understanding Of Translational Science And Biomarker Development. This Includes Experience In Designing And Executing Biomarker Strategies For Clinical Trials, As Well As Expertise In Biomarker Assay Development And Validation.

  • Leadership And Management Skills: As A Principal Scientist, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Scientists And Researchers In The Oncology Translational Science And Biomarker Department. Therefore, The Candidate Should Have Strong Leadership And Management Skills, With A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Developing Teams.

  • Advanced Degree In A Relevant Field: A Ph.d. In A Related Field Such As Oncology, Molecular Biology, Or Pharmacology Is Typically Required For This Role. The Candidate Should Have A Strong Academic Background And A Demonstrated Ability To Apply Scientific Knowledge To Solve Complex Problems.

  • Knowledge Of Drug Development Process: The Principal Scientist Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Drug Development Process, Including Preclinical And Clinical Research, Regulatory Requirements, And Commercialization Strategies. This Knowledge Will Be Critical In Guiding And Optimizing The Translational Science And Biomarker Programs At Merck & Co.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: This Role Will Involve Frequent Collaboration With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Clinical Development, Biostatistics, And Medical Affairs.
