1. Develop and implement strategies for protecting Merck's biologics products and technologies through patent prosecution and litigation.
2. Conduct thorough and detailed patent searches and analyze the results to determine patentability and potential infringement risks.
3. Draft and prosecute high-quality patent applications for biologics products and technologies.
4. Manage and oversee the patent portfolio for biologics products, including conducting patent reviews and identifying potential opportunities for expansion.
5. Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on patent matters related to biologics products and technologies.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address potential patent infringement issues.
7. Stay updated on relevant patent laws and regulations, as well as industry trends and developments in biologics patent law.
8. Conduct due diligence on potential partnerships and acquisitions to ensure proper protection of Merck's biologics patent portfolio.
9. Represent Merck in patent litigation proceedings related to biologics products, including drafting legal documents and providing expert testimony.
10. Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, including law firms and regulatory agencies, to support Merck's biologics patent strategy.
11. Provide training and support to junior team members on biologics patent law and procedures.
12. Maintain accurate and organized records of all patent-related activities and communicate updates and progress to internal stakeholders.
