Job Description

You should have a strong understanding of downstream purification techniques and analytical methods, as well as experience with technology transfer to manufacturing sites.   1. Lead and drive downstream process development and optimization for biologic drug candidates.

  10. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to support technology transfer and manufacturing activities.
  11. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in biologics process development.
  12. Communicate effectively with team members and management to provide updates on project progress.
  13. Lead and participate in project meetings, presenting data and making recommendations.
  14. Contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  15. Train and develop team members to build a strong and capable downstream process development team.

Job Qualifications
  • Expertise In Downstream Processing Techniques: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Various Downstream Processing Techniques Used In The Biologics Industry, Such As Chromatography, Filtration, And Purification Methods. They Should Be Able To Design And Optimize These Processes To Ensure High Product Quality And Yield.

  • Experience In Process Development And Optimization: The Principal Scientist Should Have A Proven Track Record In Developing And Optimizing Downstream Processes For Biologics Production. This Includes Knowledge Of Statistical Design Of Experiments (Doe) And Process Characterization To Identify Critical Process Parameters And Optimize Process Conditions.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: As Merck & Co. Operates In A Highly Regulated Industry, The Principal Scientist Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory Requirements For Biologics Manufacturing, Such As Cgmp, Ich, And Fda Guidelines. They Should Be Able To Design Processes That Comply With These Regulations And Have Experience In Successful Regulatory Filings.

  • Strong Leadership And Project Management Skills: As A Principal Scientist, The Candidate Should Have Experience In Leading And Managing Cross-Functional Teams To Drive Projects To Successful Completion. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With Team Members From Different Disciplines, Such As Analytical Development, Formulation, And Manufacturing.

  • Phd In A Relevant Field And Industry Experience: Merck & Co. Typically Requires A Ph.d. In Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Or A Related Field For This Role. Additionally, The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 8-10 Years Of Experience In Downstream Process Development And Manufacturing In The Biopharmaceutical Industry. Previous Experience In A Leadership Role Is Preferred.
