Job Description

If so, Merck & Co. is seeking a highly motivated Associate Director to join our team and lead our computational biology efforts in cardiometabolic drug discovery. To excel in this position, you must have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in drug discovery and a proven track record of utilizing computational techniques to drive successful drug discovery projects.   1. Lead the computational biology efforts in drug discovery for cardiometabolic diseases.
  2. Utilize data science and computational techniques to identify novel drug targets.
  3. Collaborate with a team of scientists to design and implement computational strategies.
  4. Utilize cutting-edge technologies to analyze large datasets and generate insights.
  5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize and advance drug candidates.
  6. Develop and implement computational models to predict drug efficacy and safety.
  7. Utilize statistical analysis to interpret and communicate results to key stakeholders.
  8. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in computational biology and drug discovery.
  9. Lead and mentor junior team members in computational biology techniques.
  10. Work with external partners and collaborators to leverage additional expertise and resources.
  11. Contribute to the development of new computational tools and methodologies.
  12. Participate in project teams to provide computational expertise and drive decision-making.
  13. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  14. Present data and findings at internal and external meetings and conferences.
  15. Proactively identify and address challenges in computational biology projects.
  16. Collaborate with other departments, such as chemistry and biology, to integrate data and achieve project goals.
  17. Contribute to the development and execution of computational biology strategies.
  18. Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  19. Communicate progress and results to management and stakeholders.
  20. Demonstrate a commitment to making a meaningful impact on patients' lives through drug discovery.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Internal And External Stakeholders.

  • A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Computational Biology, Data Science, Or A Related Field, Preferably In The Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Cardiometabolic Diseases And Drug Discovery, With A Focus On Using Computational Approaches To Support Drug Development.

  • Proficiency In Various Programming Languages And Tools Commonly Used In Computational Biology, Such As R, Python, And Sql.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successfully Leading And Managing Cross-Functional Teams And Projects In A Fast-Paced Environment.
