As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for a specific category of products or services.   1. Develop and implement sourcing strategies for a specific category of products or services.
  2. Identify cost savings opportunities and negotiate favorable terms and prices with suppliers.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of products or services.
  4. Analyze and monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry updates to inform sourcing decisions.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, finance, and operations, to understand business needs and develop effective procurement strategies.
  6. Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify potential new suppliers and alternative products or services.
  7. Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier selection and contract negotiation to purchase order creation and delivery.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  9. Monitor and track supplier performance, and address any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  10. Continuously evaluate and improve sourcing processes to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  11. Communicate and present sourcing strategies and results to key stakeholders.
  12. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

Job Qualifications

  • Relevant Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Or A Related Field. Previous Experience In The Healthcare Industry Is Preferred.

  • Category Expertise: A Strong Understanding Of The Specific Category Being Managed Is Essential For Success As A Category Specialist At Mckesson. This Includes Knowledge Of Industry Trends, Market Dynamics, And Supplier Capabilities.

  • Analytical Skills: The Ability To Analyze Data, Identify Patterns, And Make Data-Driven Decisions Is Crucial For A Category Specialist. Candidates Should Be Proficient In Excel And Other Data Analysis Tools.

  • Negotiation Skills: As A Category Specialist, You Will Be Responsible For Negotiating Contracts And Pricing With Suppliers. Strong Negotiation Skills, Including The Ability To Build Relationships And Find Mutually Beneficial Solutions, Are Essential For This Role.

  • Strategic Thinking: The Ability To Think Strategically And Develop Long-Term Plans For The Category Is Important For A Category Specialist At Mckesson. Candidates Should Be Able To Identify Opportunities For Cost Savings, Process Improvements, And Supplier Diversification.
