Job Description

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Sterile Processing Technician to join our team and provide a high level of patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing instruments and equipment, while adhering to strict standards of safety and quality control. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to excellence.To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years of experience in sterile processing, and be certified in Central Sterile Processing (CSP). Additionally, you must possess strong organizational and communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and be familiar with the latest sterilization regulations. Responsibilities:

  1. Decontaminate, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment according to regulations.
  2. Maintain accurate records and log of all equipment sterilization processes.
  3. Adhere to strict safety and quality control standards.
  4. Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  5. Monitor and restock inventory of sterilized equipment.
  6. Assist with the training of new staff members in sterile processing techniques.
  7. Respond to inquiries regarding sterilization processes.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument and equipment sterilization.
  9. Communicate effectively with other team members.
  10. Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in the sterile processing area.
