- Perform all tasks related to the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Follow strict protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and effectiveness of all instruments and equipment.
- Inspect all instruments and equipment for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of all sterilization processes, including equipment maintenance and quality control checks.
- Work closely with surgical and clinical staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and order new supplies as needed.
- Adhere to all infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in training and educational programs to stay current on best practices and industry standards.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and equipment in the field of sterile processing.
- Collaborate with other department members to identify and implement process improvements.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and confidentiality guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, and address any concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department manager.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Education Level Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Be Considered For The Sterile Processing Technician Position At Massachusetts General Hospital.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst): Applicants Must Hold A Valid Crcst Certification From The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm) To Be Eligible For The Position.
Previous Sterile Processing Experience: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Sterile Processing Environment, Preferably In A Hospital Setting, Will Be Given Preference For The Job At Massachusetts General Hospital.
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Equipment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Different Sterilization Methods And Equipment Used In A Hospital Setting, Such As Steam Autoclaves, Ethylene Oxide Gas Sterilizers, And Low-Temperature Sterilization Systems.
