
Social Worker - Pediatric

- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Educate families on coping strategies and resources to help them navigate through difficult medical situations.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Advocate for patients and their families to ensure their needs are met within the healthcare system.
- Participate in discharge planning and provide appropriate referrals for continued support after hospitalization.
- Document patient care and progress accurately and in a timely manner.
- Stay updated on current research and trends in child development and pediatric social work to provide the best care for patients and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients and families.
- Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide additional support for patients and families as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the hospital and child protective services in cases of suspected abuse or neglect.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the care provided to pediatric patients.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures to ensure a safe and professional work environment.
Master's Degree In Social Work: Candidates Must Possess A Master's Degree In Social Work From An Accredited University. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Social Work Theory And Practice, As Well As Specialized Training In Working With Children And Families.
Experience Working With Pediatric Populations: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working With Pediatric Populations In A Healthcare Setting. This May Include Experience In Hospitals, Clinics, Or Other Pediatric Healthcare Settings.
Knowledge Of Child Development And Family Systems: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Child Development And The Impact Of Illness And Disability On Children And Families. This Knowledge Will Help Them Provide Effective Support And Interventions For Pediatric Patients And Their Families.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Social Workers Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals, Advocate For Their Patients, And Provide Support To Families In Crisis. This Includes The Ability To Communicate With Children And Adolescents In A Developmentally Appropriate Manner.
Licensure And Certification: Candidates Must Be Licensed As A Social Worker In The State Of Massachusetts And Hold Current Certification From The National Association Of Social Workers (Nasw).
