As the manager, you will play a critical role in supporting our team of scientists and clinicians in conducting preclinical studies to develop new treatments and therapies.   1. Oversee the daily operations of the preclinical research laboratory, ensuring adherence to all safety and regulatory protocols.
  2. Manage a team of laboratory technicians and provide guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the lab.
  3. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various laboratory processes, including sample collection, data management, and equipment maintenance.
  4. Ensure proper inventory management of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and maintain accurate records of all purchases and expenditures.
  5. Collaborate with the research team to plan and execute preclinical studies, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting results.
  6. Monitor and maintain the quality of research data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established protocols.
  7. Train new laboratory staff on laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  8. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in laboratory techniques and technology, and implement new methods and equipment to improve the efficiency and efficacy of research.
  9. Manage the budget for the preclinical research laboratory, including forecasting and allocating resources for projects.
  10. Collaborate with other departments and external partners to facilitate the smooth operation of the laboratory and ensure timely execution of research projects.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean working environment in the laboratory, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
  12. Take responsibility for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and coordinate repairs and upgrades as needed.
  13. Act as a liaison between the research team and external stakeholders, such as vendors, regulatory bodies, and funding agencies.
  14. Foster a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration within the laboratory, encouraging open communication and continuous learning among team members.
  15. Prepare reports and presentations on laboratory activities, research findings, and budgetary updates for senior management.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Science: A Preclinical Research Laboratory Manager At Massachusetts General Hospital Must Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In A Relevant Scientific Field Such As Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Or A Related Discipline. A Ph.d. Is Preferred.

  • Extensive Research Experience: The Ideal Candidate Must Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience Working In A Preclinical Research Laboratory Setting, With A Strong Background In Conducting Experiments, Data Analysis, And Managing Research Projects.

  • Leadership And Management Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership And Management Skills To Oversee A Team Of Researchers And Technicians. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing Budgets, Resources, And Personnel In A Research Environment.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory And Safety Standards: The Preclinical Research Laboratory Manager Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory And Safety Standards For Conducting Animal Research And Be Familiar With Relevant Guidelines And Protocols, Such As Iacuc And Aaalac.

  • Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills: Strong Communication And Organizational Skills Are Essential For This Role. The Candidate Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Colleagues, Collaborators, And External Partners, And Have The Ability To Manage Multiple Projects And Deadlines Efficiently.
